What Polight.me is

An LED lamp with a layer of nanoparticles.

The nanoparticles scatter the blue part of the light the same way air does in the atmosphere. That is why you see blue sky in the ceiling, and in FOCUS lamps a bright disc of sun as well. There is no screen or photo inside.

How it works

A sky made by a layer of nanoparticles.

  1. White light

The LEDs give white light. It holds every colour, from violet to red.

  2. A layer of nanoparticles

The light passes through a diffuser with nanoparticles. They act like air molecules in the atmosphere.

  3. Blue sky and sun

Short blue waves scatter in every direction, so you see blue. Long warm waves carry on, like rays of sunlight.

Diagram: white LED light passes through a layer of nanoparticles. The blue part scatters sideways, the warm part carries on. White LED light Nanoparticles Scattered blue: the sky Warm light: the sun

Rayleigh scattering

Blue light scatters about 6 times more than red.

Scattering follows 1/λ⁴: the shorter the wave, the stronger it gets. Light at 450 nm (blue) scatters about 5.9 times more than at 700 nm (red). It is the same reason the midday sky is blue.

An illustration of Rayleigh's law, not a measurement of a specific lamp.

Chart: light scattering falls from violet to red. At 450 nm it is about 5.9 times stronger than at 700 nm. 2×4×6×8×10×400450500550600650700 ≈ 5.9× · 450 nm 1× · 700 nm Wavelength (nm) Scattering relative to 700 nm

Colour temperature

From noon to sunset. In the same fitting.

Same room, same lamps. Only the colour of the light changes: from a cool midday sky to a low, warm sun.

Mounting and control

Mounted in the ceiling, controlled from a phone or the building system.

You connect the lamp like an ordinary ceiling light. Mounting and control depend on the model; the cut-out size is on the product page.

Mounting

  • Recessed

The fitting sits in a cut-out in the ceiling. Most models are mounted this way.

  • Suspended (PT)

FLAT series. A ready kit: lamp, frame and cables. The lamp hangs below the ceiling.

  • Cassette (PY)

FLAT series. The panel lies on the grid of a suspended ceiling, in place of one tile.

  • Surface

FLAT series. Mounted on the ceiling surface, without a cut-out.

The space needed above the ceiling depends on the model. Example: ZENITH-600600 is 220 mm high; the installation drawing requires at least 240 mm.

Control

  • App, remote, switch

Most models use Tuya BLE + 2.4G control: a phone app, a remote and a wall switch.

  • 0-10 V

FOCUS lamps are dimmed with a 0-10 V signal.

  • DALI and KNX

DALI variants are available. KNX works through a DALI-KNX gateway. Tell us your installation standard before ordering.

  • Brightness and colour

You adjust brightness and, on most models, colour temperature too: from 2100 K to 7500-7800 K.

Questions

Before you order.

Can't find your question? Write or call: +48 666 286 106

Is it a screen or a photo of the sky?

No. The blue forms in a layer of nanoparticles that scatters LED light the way air does in the atmosphere. This is Rayleigh scattering. That is why the sky in the lamp looks deep rather than flat.

What is the difference between the sky effect and the sun effect?

The sky effect is a blue, optically deep surface with diffused light. The FOCUS series adds a visible disc of sun and directional light.

Will the lamp light the whole room?

It depends on the size of the room, the luminous flux and the direction of the light. Models range from 750 to 20,000 lm. Send us the floor plan and the ceiling height and we will help you choose the series and layout.

Can I change the colour and brightness?

Yes, within the range of each model. Most models offer colour temperature from 2100 K to 7500-7800 K. In the FOCUS series the range depends on the model, for example FOCUS R300S is 2700-6500 K.

How is the lamp mounted?

Most models are recessed into a cut-out in the ceiling. The FLAT series can also be suspended (PT), fitted in a cassette ceiling (PY) or surface-mounted. You connect it like an ordinary ceiling lamp, so you can install it yourself. The cut-out size and the power-supply manual are on the product page.

How much space is needed above the ceiling?

It depends on the model and the mounting. Check the installation dimension, not just the housing height. Example: ZENITH-600600 is 220 mm high; the installation drawing requires at least 240 mm.

Can the lamp be installed in a bathroom?

Most fittings are rated IP20, which means they are not protected against water. Before you plan a lamp in a bathroom, ask us about the specific model.

How much power does the lamp use?

It depends on the model: from 25 W to 600 W. The exact value is on the product page.

Can I connect DALI or KNX?

Yes. DALI variants are available and KNX works through a DALI-KNX gateway. Tell us your installation standard before ordering, as the driver variant depends on it.

What is the warranty?

3 years as standard. When ordering, you can choose 5 years for a surcharge.

Where can I see the lamps in person?

At our showroom at Taneczna 27 in Warsaw. It is open around the clock and you enter with a code. We email the code after you fill in a short form.

How do I choose a model for my room?

Send us a floor plan or photos of the room, its height, the space above the ceiling and the effect you want. We will tell you which series fits and what to avoid.
